Title: i cant download anti-virus on to my computer. help me please!!!

my problem is that whenever i boot on to the computer even before i get on the internet my computer warns me that i have no anti virus software on my computer.  as i try to download it off the internet it automatically boots me out.

it goes like this.....i turn on my computer...it warns me....i click on enternet explorer(on safe mode) and then type in something like ati virus.  and enternet explorer disappears.  closes all tabs and poof its gone.

what do i do? help me please!!!!!!

You may need to boot from a disk which would mean purchasing an anti-virus programme like Norton or McAfee.. money well spent in my book.

Ugh? Nortan?

I would go with ESET Nod32. Best Antivirus I have come across so far.

Never heard of it to be fair mate. But I've had Norton for three years and never gave me any problems plus I like the added extras like cards and log ins. I probably aint heard of it because I don't look around for anti-virus software.

It doesn't have the bloat Nortan and the others do. NOD32 is lightweight, but powerful. Most proper tests I've seen also rate NOD32 towards the top. Nortan isn't THAT far behind, but the larger footprint, along with that suite of junk leaves me picking NOD32 every time. If you already have Nortan, you could stay with it. But if you are looking to buy a new one, NOD32 all the way!

A few things:
1.) If your computer pops up with a window saying "hey, you have no antivirus and you may be infected" most of the time that itself is a virus.
2.) In order to even get on the internet with safe mode, make sure u boot into safe mode with networking.

Like somebody else mentioned, if you have access to another computer, save the programs found in this post:
http://www.computerhope.com/forum/index.php/topic,46313.0.html
and then follow the instructions that follow. Post back the necessary logs (if you can get it accomplished).

I can guarentee that your computer will never ever say that..

alanah , can you borrow a security disc of any sort from some-one  , put it in , run it , try your pc , if its ok take it out and download avast and run it , harry

How exactly do you open IE in safe mode? I may be wrong but when did IE ever have a safe open option?
