SNES +Chrono trigger,Mario Kart, and a few other greats.
The Genesis was called the Megadrive in civilised countries :P
SNES(both my actual console and ZSNES emulator),
- DK Country
- Super Mario World 8)
Homebrewing SNES is fun, but very hard(takes like 30 lines of ASM to just change the background color :P)
But back on subject..
...and some alien game for NES...
My favorite 'retro' game, and really my favorite ever game, would have to be Final Fantasy VI (Final Fantasy III in the US). In fact, most of Square Soft's games for SNES were really good. Some other retro games I like... hmm... Super Mario World and the old NES Metal Gear games and Bionic Commando.
I wouldn't consider anything on CD to be really 'retro', unless maybe it was on that horrible SegaCD thing they came out with. Anything Playstation, Saturn, Dreamcast, XBox, etc. is way too young to be anywhere near being called 'retro'.
Also, if the PS1 doesn't count as "retro" would the N64 also not be considered as such? (I have to agree if that's the case, actually).
Actually, I was going to include it then got lazy, but yeah, N64 is a bit young to be retro.
The old ET game?No but I forgot to add Zelda...

Don't forget Loser man!
His weakness would be Almost-non-loser Man, who's weakness is to Almost-Winner Man, and they all lose to WINNER MAN!
Helpmeh, that was terrible.
Apparently they renamed the Japanese version of it in several ways due to copyright infringement:
EG: Aquaman from the Japanese version was renamed to Waterman(Aquaman from DC comics)
Puddingman :D

That is true, in the comic series(Japanese version and a special chapter in one of the English volumes) you actually are told from the creator that some of the characters have a musically derived name, eg:Bass's robot dog is named Treble.
Rockman & Roll (Rock and Roll)
Blues(Protoman in the Japanese version, Blues)
Gospel(The Grave Virus from the comic, Gospel Music)
And also Bass(or Forte from the original Japanese, Bass I guess means the Bass & Treble of music)
Are you sure that's pudding he's covered in? ;D ;D ;D

I can't remember Rush's Japanese name but I guarantee it's Musically derived as well.
and helpmeh, are you the winner man?

Back on topic: (|
I still play my old game boy from time to time, that is when I can trick my son into letting me play for a while :).
Lucky ;)Not only do I have a Christmas Limited Edition GameBoy Advance, I also have a Christmas Limited Edition Original DS.
I used to own a Gameboy Pocket(B&W) that I lost :P
Then had a Gameboy Color that shorted out due to some off-brand gameboy light >:(
Now I have a GBA(Silver 8)) and my brother has his DS Lite(To bad Nintendo dropped the GBA slot from the DSI, but I guess thats how companies are, they don't think about the people who like nostaglic stuff)
Oh yeah, well, I have a first edition SNES!NES. With Mario/Duckhunt&Zapper, P.O.W., Legend of Zelda and some Alien game...
It's kind of funny how the games have changed. Look at a NES game cartridge, then look at a PS3 disk... :)
TLoZ:LTTP came out in '92. (it was the only zelda game for SNES that I'm aware of)
the SFX chip was around 95/96.
Even so it would have been a waste of time to make a zelda game using the SFX chip. it actually kind of sucked in Doom and Starfox. Only great use found was with the SFX2 chip in Yoshi's Island. Instead of trying to make some goofy 3-d game they actually decided to improve upon their current sidescrolling tech. foregrounds, backgrounds, all scrolling and animated.
Anyway for an update after my recent set of acquisitions via ebay my (better) SNES games consist of:
Super Mario World
Yoshi's Island
Chrono Trigger
Donkey Kong country
Donkey Kong Country 2
Donkey Kong Country 3
Killer Instinct
F-Zero
Super Mario Kart
and probably some I missed. but it's growing.
As for gamecube right now I have smash brother's melee. But I'm taking up your advice macDad with Starfox adventures next time ;)
and then look at the gameplay and realize that in many respects we've regressed, in a lot of games. The same GOD *censored* STORY told OVER AND OVER by these bloody resident evil games and first person shooters get's old very quickly. Not that nintendo themselves didn't take to long to get that message either. I mean, SMB1, SMB2J, SMB3, SMW, mario 64... jesus, how many games did they make where the end result was saving the bloody princess. It's simply an overused cliche. I suppose it works, but I mean, realistically, bowser would give the heck up and do something more productive, or mario would simply say "screw it, I'm going back to bed".

(not 100%, but that's the reason).

I thought, you recommended it?It's for everyone to play, even the locally-developed children.
oh wait, my bad, you said, SF assault.... I guess I'll get that instead then.
SSBM is a great game. took me almost a week to get all the characters/stages. Just gotta finish all-star mode now with all the characters...
that's true. come to think of it, I didn't really give a *censored* about the story. In fact. having a story that isn't so engaging can be a relief sometimes, doesn't make you think too much.
Went into settings and switched the language to Japanese :P
and stumbled my way like a drunkard into the data part in settings.
LOL
talk about "woops!"
oh and I didn't see it as badgering. It's a good thing you mentioned it, actually, otherwise I would have gotten adventures.
So, my next ebay spree will probably land me Wind Waker,Assault, metroid prime, and.. I think theres a mario kart on GC too, but I forget it's name. whatever it was I'm getting it too :)
although I don't think I'd call the GC an "old" game console. IMO even n64 is pushing the definition of "old" !
the first game console, was the magnavox oddysey.
erm- the first affordable programmable computer was the SINCLAIR ZX80. It was designed a brit though. This might interest you greatly.
And it took the efforts of far more then a single person, or even the people in a single country, to make the web what it is today. Although I must note that Al Gore was not one of them. ;D
I'm sorry BC but the internet was created by one man (English) at (CERN) to establish a way of multiple computers to talk to each other in a network. Hence the internet was born only because CERN gave it up because it was very primitive and unneccesary to there needs today.I suggest you watch this video.

No matter how many different way's Americans want to think they did they did NOT! The world wide web was created in Europe by an English man not some random story Americans made up.If you would actually watch the video, it was created in combonation with all the pre-internets.
That may be BC, I'm a poet and did not no it... Sorry. But the ZX was the beginning of games programming where you, me, her and him could design and write our own games and people did. It was the birth of consumer gaming and started here in jolly old England! Even the web was created by an English man at CERN, where would we be to today without the plucky Brits. LolThat's how...
Oh yeah blame it all on me ;DWell you were the one who first posted of it.

Yea know, I'm now starting to think that I should get Final Fantasy(everyone has been saying how great it is as an RPG game...)
perhaps the SNES version?
Contra was like Russian Attack too...but Contra 1,2 and 3 were very odd bosses that puked magots etc, and that heart at the end you had to destroy and what about 30 lives UP UP DOWN DOWN LEFT RIGHT LEFT RIGHT B A START ... wow its been almost 15 years since I fired up Contra and that 30 lives cheat is still in my head...lol
"Russian Attack" Maybe for that 2 player NES game with the nukes that he was asking about a few posts back.
You guys remember the old pokemon games?
Red, Blue, Yellow, Gold, Silver, Crystal 8)
My brother is still after Suicune in Crystal
how is it questionable...
I'm running a pirate version of windows in this PC, and my laptop.... Visual Studio 98, 2005, 2008, office 2003... etc etc...
whats a few ROMs? :P
I do own a legal version of XP, but I gave up and used my pirate copy.
Just messing with yea, we've all probably downloaded something illegal atleast once
*GASP* What?! NO!
^-^
As far as FF games, I've never really been fond of them, but I have to say that Chrono trigger is one of the greatest SNES games. I've heard people say it's the "best game ever"- I don't go THAT far.
i have heard that also quite many times, but i think i agree. It is really great game indeed. Love the plot, music and characters. Retro is IN!
