Title: Manchester 10k run
Post by: Mulreay on May 22, 2009, 05:44:39 PM
Hi guy's some I know and there is a lot of peeps yet to meet. But I'm doing a 10k run for Christis hospis in Manchester. I'm not asking for your money but on the 5th of July Im running my bottom off for people who need it. The only reason I'm posting on here (sorry computer hope) is I need people to spread the word about http://www.christie.nhs.uk/ It's part of the NHS (national health service) Im folding day in day out doing my bit but I wanna do a little bit more. Anyway to get in touch of the moderators and may be get your name on our t-shirts?? I will pay for the prints but obviously need your OK to let me do it. We need to sort this out speedy. There will be a lot of English media.

<Admin edit> Edited to get posted into calender.

Appreciate it's for a great cause, but I'm not one for shout-outs.
If you want to use my name feel free, but I'm not asking for it.
This is of course assuming the admin has given permission for the logo etc ... I can't find any info on the site about using the name and logo freely, it is trademarked but is allowed to be used on web pages.

I was just thinking of that.

To use the name ComputerHope and/or the CH logo, you will need our Admin's permission.

Sorry missed this post (thanks for the PM, it helps direct my eyes) -- You're more than welcome to use the "Computer Hope", "http://www.computerhope.com", and/or "logo" and users names/aliases for those granting permission. Although couldn't imagine too many users not wanting their names on a shirt.

If you have a set day when your doing this 10k run I can post this into the calender and it may help get some more eyes on the post since it'll be on the front of the forums page. I'm always happy to help good causes such as this when I can so PM me or post if you need any additional support.

p.s. sorry for late reply was memorial weekend here in the states so was out of town.

Everyone hold your horses on this. My left knee gave in yesterday whilst jogging and I have a specialist appointment at the hospital tomorrow. It's not looking good apparently impact running (running on concrete) is not good for you at all. My knee has balooned up and the doctor thinks I have something called...... it was a long name that did not mean much. It will either settle down or not. If not then it's game over apparently. My friends are standing true though and I'm still raising the funds either way and thats what is important. But unless you want to see me resting on the sofa with a t-shirt with your names on we may be out of look. I have it on good authority from myself though that if this falls through and hopefully not my friends and I will be doing the 'Great Manchester run' next year. As long as my knee stays in tact  ::) Sorry If I let anyone down in advance but I may still be running let's see what the doc says tomorrow. Sorry for the long post I just hate letting people down.

Title: Re: Manchester 10k run
Post by: BC_Programmer on June 08, 2009, 05:23:44 PM
a long story, I think it's an anniversary of it soon. Let's see here:

it all started here:

http://www.computerhope.com/forum/index.php/topic,67029.0.html

and then, all was well, it continued on for a bit...

things were going swimmingly at the forum... then SPAMMERS!

http://www.computerhope.com/forum/index.php/topic,74641.0.html

where we learned the awful truth that CR's e-mail was "[email protected]" quite a revelation, if I say so myself.

then, as christmas approached, we got this:

http://www.computerhope.com/forum/index.php/topic,72723.0.html

where we discover that CR has an entire warehouse filled with gift certificates and swims in them, and yet, even during the holidays, poor Broni has to suffer. how could he be so heartless!

and then, we found out the awful truth. It's in Dons about something else but I'll present the relevant quotes, short story, CR was worries about something (probably his huge wealth), so Broni inquired:

What you really need to worry about are new gift certificates for me ;D

CR replied:

NO! i know what I am going to spend them on so hah

to which, Broni cleverly retorted:

I know too....on me ;D
and then, CR tries to deal a death blow:

No I think that I will buy a video game of some sorts

At this point, I bring up an interesting factoid:

I don't think Broni really plays games.

Broni subsequently confirms my fact, to which CR refutes:

I am not getting Broni anything I am getting the games for myself

I call out his miserly behaviour:

So you go and promise him something, and take it away? Tssk Tssk.

CR boldly challenges us to put forth proof of his well-known agreement:
I never promised Broni gift cards. Can I have some proof

Through careful inspection, I find where this occured:

yeah, and what happened to your christmas spirit, anyway?

Sure, it's January... but it was barely september when you said, and I quote
Quote from: BC_Programmer
Quote
Broni you are the greatest evar, I will give you these two gift certificates I got because you are awesomo. Also I like to eat kitty litter. I am saying this, no matter wat I try to tell anybody when I get quoted without a real source.

So there you have it. Straight from kitty-litter breath.  ;D

Even presented with such solid evidence, CR has the gall to say something about his speech impediments and the month of January. but no matter, I find even more solid evidence, which confirms that he has been playing more then just Broni:

Dear god! I found another, separate instance where you promised the certificates to your dearly departed pet goat:
Quote
Oh goatsy, your so great. Say, here, have these gift certificates. I know I promised them to the great Broni, but he told me eating cat litter was bad for me, so screw that.
So! First you promise them to Broni, then you promise them to your pet goat, and now you double-cross both of them and use them yourself. That's cold man. That goat, he was like a brother to you, and you go shun him, like yesterday's leftovers. Not cool.

Anyway, Patio busts in with our grain futures and Chrome Ghost account stock quotes, and then I predict that Grain Futures will do better when the cats Finally get control of our grain supply (an even LONGER story that goes farther back).

So there you have it.  ;D

You'll probably get your gift certificates when CR's done with Milton and Dante.    ;)

In other words...

Never.

I for one will not accept that! I will scream it from every rooftop! Possibly while playing a fiddle for unrelated reasons. In any case, it won't be long before the Internationial Fairness Amongst Holders of Gift Certificates Who May Or May Not Like the Mention of Peanut Butter in This Name (IFAHGCWMOMNLMPBITN) (pronounced, If Ahhg Qui-Mom pell bitten) gets wind of this, they'll eventually get the U.S Army on your doorstep, tanks pointed at all your windows...

in the meantime, Broni will be featured on multiple talk-shows, with the topic being "I was promised gift certificates on a random computer forum but the person who promised them was an evil miser who is trying to take over the world using a mixture of peanut butter, donut glaze and cat litter".

SBS is the (special boat service) and actually to be feared more than the SAS. You hear a lot of the SAS but the SBS keep it all under there boats. The SBS is the special forces branch of the Royal Marines.

Well the results are in.... drum role..... two Steroid injections one on either side of my knee. A check up next week and no chance of running anywhere as it stands  >:(

So unless we can get computeruler on a plane to push the chair.... hay he could use Broni's vouchers sorry I mean 'his' vouchers to go towards the cost of the ticket  ;D

So were looking at the BUPA run next May now so hopefully we will all still be around to enjoy me making an *censored* out of myself. The time to beat is 1hr 3min's. That's what my friend did this year. So I need Rocky music (getting stronger) and does anyone know an abituoire that I can go and punch some dead cows?

It will be either for Cristie's or the lung and heart centre @ Wythenshawe hospital Manchester. Thanks for everyone's support and having fun with this I'll try and not let you down next year.

But computeruler you can always come and run this year it seems you have quite the following.

Or the standard "eye of the tiger" theme. As performed in Rocky 12.

Quote
DUN..... DUN DUN DUN. DUN DUN DUN. DUN DUN DUUUN.

DUN, DUN DUN DUN, DUN DUN DUN, DUN DUN DUN...

Fat and weak, what a disgrace
Guess the champ got too lazy
Ain't gonna fly now, he's just takin' up space
Sold his gloves, threw his eggs down the drain

But he's no bum, he works down the street
He bought the neighborhood deli
Back on his feet, now he's choppin' up meat
Come inside, maybe you'll hear him say

Try the rye or the kaiser
They're on special tonight
If you want, you can have an appetizer
You might like our salami and the liver's all right
And they'd really go well with the rye
Or the kaiser

Never eats while on the job
He heard it's good to stay hungry
But he makes a pretty mean shish kabob
Have a taste, they were made fresh today

Try the rye or the kaiser or the wheat or the white
Maybe I can suggest an appetizer
Stay away from the tuna, it smells funny tonight
But you just can't go wrong with the rye
Or the kaiser

So today, his deli comes first
Still he dreams of his past days of glory
Goes in the back and beats up on the liverwurst
All the while you can still hear him say

It's the rye or the kaiser, it's the thrill of one bite
Let me please be your catering advisor
If you want substitutions I won't put up a fight
You can have your roast beef on the rye
Or the kaiser

The rye or the kaiser
The rye or the kaiser
The rye or the kaiser

wait a minute, that isn't really very motivational.

It's good in a way guy's because I had a quick chat (PM) with Nathan about the design of the T-Shirt a few weeks ago and he said some of you guy's may be able to help. At first because of time restrictions I was going to pass the batton over to a t-shirt company but Nathan did suggest that there are people out there who can design such things. Anybody on this thread good at design??

White T-shirt, Computer Hope logo with a list of us guy's probably in black down the back under the Computer hope logo. May be we can all think of a snappy logo to go with it.

When I say logo I mean the full Computer hope.com
free computer help for everyone
logo even if we could get the keyboard bit at the end.

Hospital appointment on Tue. It took long enough! Going to the Withington Community centre hospital to get the knee sorted and now it is my back as well. Check it out on google earth Nell Lane, Manchester M20 2LG. Seeing the Orthopaedic clinic. Make's me sound lame.

Wow... sounds exciting! You never know what you might see there!

Well, I mean, I suppose you can be fairly certain that there's an orthopedist... but really, everything else is a mystery! Will there be a baby who cries in the waiting room and makes you grind your teeth? Will all the magazines have 24 page articles about Michael Jackson? It's an ADVENTURE!

they could make a game out of it: "Mulreay goes to the orthopedist"

hmm, interesting. I mispelled the name as "Micheal". This might not be too surprising, until you know it's MY first name as well.

Plus, when you're done, you can ask the doctor a variation of the very old, but venerable, violin joke..."...but Doc, will, I be able to play the violin?" "Yes." "Good -- I've always wanted to..."

(Doctor finishes examination)
"Doctor, will I be able to do the 'Thriller' dance?"
"Yes."
Oh, never mind...   ::)   ;D
