Check your connections, monitor power comes on?......check the monitor on another PC.

bck,

You have to find a working monitor and plug it into your laptop....there should be a female 15 pin connection on the back of the laptop  to connect an external monitor.....by doing this if the laptop works on another monitor you'll know your video card works and your LCD screen has a problem...this may be the backlight or inverter causing the problem....
