Title: Can't start Windows Automatic update service
Post by: ujjawal on June 17, 2009, 08:40:27 PM
I have been trying to enable and start the automatic update service and it keeps on telling me Access Denied. I believe I have some virus on my computer which actually turned off the service.  Can you help?  Here's the hjt log.

Can you run Malwarebytes and SUPERAntiSpyware please, and post the logs?

I did run the SUPERAntiSpyware and Malwarebytes. SUPERAntiSpyware did find lot of problems and it did quarantine all of the findings. I have been using Mawarebytes for last few months periodically, but surprisingly it never caught the viruses SUPERAntiSpyware caught.

Please let me know if the PC is clean now and what do I need to do to recover the Automatic Update. The 3 log files are attached.

Thanks a lot for your help. I have been hesitant to install any spyware since sometimes they are the culprit (or that's what I read), but looking at your web-site I was somewhat confident that these software will actually help me, rather than hurt.

Thanks a LOT for your help.
