Title: batch file

how do i create a batch file that checks into a particular folder, picks out a file and email it. i actually need the code. thanks

Hmmm.... searches for a file and e-mails it.... sounds illegal to me.

How about telling the user to just e-mail the file to you instead of an automatic method.

Sorry we wont be able to help with this request and you need more than batch to achieve this.

Not necessarily.

In my line of work, we use batch files to e-mail out the following from our clients' mail servers:
1) Backup logs from Windows 2000 or Server 2003 NTBACKUP
2) Scripted processes like DIRUSE for disk space checking.
3) Messages that notify us when a machine is not running.
4) Messages that notify us that a machine is scheduled to restart.

None of that sounds illegal to me. 

However, I can see how something like that could be abused though, so I won't answer the op's question without having the mods' approval first.
