can some one tell me how i can check through Dos if my harddisk is not good no more.

you can do it by  scandisk
or you can insert startup disk ( floppy) and run scandisk with serface test

There is also the option to obtain a [free] diagnostic disk from the Hard Disk Drives manufacturer. Use it as you would use a Boot disk.
