Title: C:\windows\installer files
Post by: michaewlewis on July 14, 2009, 03:48:04 PM
question is, are the installer files important to keep around? they're taking up 1.4 gb of space on a 16gb drive, so I kind of want them gone if possible. operating system is server 2003 if it makes a difference.

Is this installer files for your server's  hardware? You could write it into a CD and be in handy if circumstances need it.

I don't know if they're hardware install files..... it's kind of the whole reason I posted my question. I don't know what they are. The files have a random assortment of letters and numbers followed by either *.msp or *.msi
And I'm not about to copy all those files to a cd. If they're important, then they need to stay there. If not, I'm not going to try to keep track of them on a cd.

Also, a correction. The path is C:\Windows\inf\Installer\, not C:\Windows\Installer.

you know add/remove programs? Well most of the applications in there won't uninstall if you delete those files...
