Title: Saving data to disc
Post by: halecd75 on July 20, 2009, 10:00:01 AM
I am currently going to wipe out all data on my hard disc and start from scratch. what is the best way to save mp3, Microsoft Office data and programs that i don't want to loose? Is there a program that i can use to compress this data small enough to fit it on a disc? I'm going to treat this as a starter question b/c I'm not sure what information you need.

thank you for your help.

Firstly, you can never backup programs properly.

7-Zip should do the job for the rest of the files. Download 7-Zip (http://www.7-zip.org/).

Do you mean a hard disk as in an external drive or alternate drive, or do you mean a CD or DVD?

Try the free DriveImage XML (http://www.runtime.org/driveimage-xml.htm) and/or Syncback (http://www.2brightsparks.com/syncback/syncback-hub.html) (free version)...
