(More specifically, Download Helper)

What browser are you using?
-
firefox v 3.0.10

but is still wont work
What do you mean by this? What happens?
-
@kpac
when i use the program to download the vid it downloads about 1/2 of it then cancel after which it deletes the file (i have tried to undelete it with other programs but it does not run{unsurprisingly}) with the other ways FF says that it can not find the page or it downloads a 0 byte *.mp4

Tried Internet Explorer?
-
does not work (same as above)

That has nothing to do with download....
-
what? Of course it does, I think it may be ver 12 that has it though. I done it both ways so I know that it works.

Having a media player or not does not affect your download.

What security software do you use? Firewall, AV...etc
-
It has the codes in it for plaing youtube vids an allow you to download the ones that your looking at.
-
And, in detail, can you tell us what steps and methods you have tried.

You do not need the software to DOWNLOAD the youtube video. They are completely unrelated.
The only things you need to download ANYTHING is an Operating System, Internet Connection, and an Internet Browser.
If you can see the Youtube video on Youtube.com, you can download it whether or not you have software to play it on your computer.

no i use vlc and by keepvideo do you mean keepvid (the website) because i tried that
@kpac
Norton 360 my fire wall is wired i am not even sure if it is working really ???
but i doubt that this would have affected anything as i have downloaded many other youtube videos and they all worked fine
-
Its just a point a click with it. I'm well aware of the other ways but I found that to be the easiest.
-
VLC Media Player works for me. It is not necessary to install Keepvid.
Now...
And, in detail, can you tell us what steps and methods you have tried.
-
I never said install it I wasnt aware that you could. I was meaning realplayer.
-
Hey, try YouTube Downloader by Red Kawa (just Google "RedKawa YouTube Downloader").
Nice and smooth program. It downloads all the videos in high quality...well you can choose to have that done.
Check it out; let me know how you like it.
-
Squall, RealPlayer is bloatware. Sorry.
Try one of these, and play the file you get in VLC.

What's why none of us here suggest WMP. We suggest VLC.

Which is wah?
Do you know what VLC Media Player is?
-
Its the codes that allows the player to play flv.
-
VLC Media Player has all codecs built-in. It doesn't need anything else.
-
yes, for wmp when you want to play a mp4 or flv. :(

You need codecs for WMP.

First of all download VLC media Player from the Video LAN website....you have to use that for watching Youtube Vids. You cannot use Windows Media Player.
After thats done go to a vid you want to keep & copy the URL.
Now go to http://keepvid.com/ enter the URL, click enter, then save in HIGH Quality or hover the mouse over High Quality and right click "Save Target As" then name your file, click SAVE and it should download.
Are you on Broadband or Dial-Up?
Hope this info helps!!

oh I thought thats what they were called? I .... :-\

for firefox users, just get flashgot addon (https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/220) and then get the flashget download manager (http://www.flashget.com/en/download.htm)
Flashgot conveniently integrates flashget into your browser so you can use it only when you feel like it and the flashgot "FlashGot Media" command grabs video and audio clips while they're playing (I've tested on youtube and few other similar video websites and it hasn't yet failed me)
Yeah, if you use firefox, want a download manager and want to have features similar to what the www.keepvid website does all on one program, this does the work. :)
-
try this site http://www.downloadyoutubevideos.com/ to download any youtube videos in .flv format. 2nd way's Orbit Downloader. they are both working ;) (|
