When they make DVDs the kind for the Stores and people and put movies on DVDs what is the Bit Rate they use???

I am making an MPEG-2 video and my Program  has by Default 15000 kbps  for MPEG-2

And I wanted to know if this is the same Bit Rate DVDs are recored at???

Bit rate will vary depending on how much you want to be able to store on the disk.

When I make my dvds, (Using ConvertXtoDVD) it usually tells me that it is converting to around 1500kB/s, for over 5 hours worth of content, and still looks pretty good.

So a 2000kB/s video stream woulod still look good on a DVD, 15000 is quite a bit over the top.

I am sorry I am converting a Store DVD of the Simpson TV Show to MPEG-2

So when I click on Convert VOB to MPEG-2  the Default Bit Rate is   1500 kbps

I want to keep the video just like the Origanel not Video or Audio loss.

So will this be ok or should I go Higher????

It is converting it from VOB and I don't wont to loss anythijg???

These are programs that you have downloaded or copied?

I did not Download or Copy the DVDs

I got the and Own them they are of the Simpsons TV Show and what I want to do is take just some Clips from some epasodes.

I'm assuming that you will need something capable of editing a video file.  I don't do this however and will bow out now.

nymph4, Assuming you do not need help with the actually conversion process because you know how to do it and that if you are only trying to capture from an already existing prerecorded DVD and store only a certain portion of it ( A particular episode) and that you also know how to do that. Then the question you ask is only pertaining to the default conversion rate and what that will do to the ultimate quality of the "new" file then my suggestion would be to purchase a few DVD-RW's and experiment and see what variables you chose in the copy rate produce as a final result when you record them to the DVD-rw's. You won't be wasting any discs and the RW's today are about the same cost as the single record ones.truenorth
