Title: Virus, then another, and another..
Post by: 1two3 on August 21, 2009, 04:16:59 AM
Well. I tried download Rakion (online game) because a friend said it was good and so did the reviews. Anyway I downloaded it and scanned the 468-something-MB-exe download with avast. Found a rootkit. No problem I thought, so I put it in the vault and deleted the exe. But then avast said that there wasn't enough memory to scan. So I am doing a full system scan and guess what? Found 2 trojans in old games that I had from Relfexive Arcade. Except it's scanned near 350,000 files and says the scan is still 0% complete. It might jsut be an error but I'm kinda suspicous. Any help?

Edit: Now it's on 424000 files and 4%. Very stange.
If this get out of control is it possible to replace anything in my laptop to basically restart it as if it were new? There probably isn't but if I can't get this sorted out I don't want to buy another laptop.

You'll have to go here....

http://www.computerhope.com/forum/index.php/topic,46313.0.html

If you've lost your connection, download the programs to a USB stick on a good PC and transfer them to your PC.
If you have difficulty, you may have to run them in safe mode, tap F8 at start, .
If you have difficulty, you may have to rename the programs when you save them.
If you get stuck on a step, proceed to the next .

Post the logs for step 3,4 and 6.

Thanks. Should I stop the avast! scan  because it's scanned 508,888 files and is still on 4%.

Edit: Stopped it and it had found 3 infections, yet it only send 2 to the vault. The third came up with an error. And it seems the file that Rakion infected is either gone (probably when I scaned it) or it was always infected on another game I have, called "Command and conquer: Red alert".
