Why do I keep getting notices to update the same windows update, it is now up to 11 times. As soon as I update, another icon appears in my start bar to update the very same one again.
-
What update is it? Can you be a little more specific with your system specs please.
P.s welcome to Computer Hope ;)

I'll try.
ISecurity Update for Microsoft XML Core Services 4.0 Service Pack 2 (KB954430)
Update type: Important
A security issue has been identified in Microsoft XML Core Services (MSXML) that could allow an attacker to compromise your Windows-based system and gain control over it. You can help protect your computer by installing this update from Microsoft. After you install this item, you may have to restart your computer. Once you have installed this item, it cannot be removed.
I copied and pasted it from my windows update history. I have Vista Premium and as soon as I update it, the icon appears again on my start menu to update a new one and it's the very same one--it is over and over the same one. It really bugs me. Is it a different one even tho it has the same number, etc.

Download
Malwarebytes (http://www.malwarebytes.org//)
and
SAS (http://www.superantispyware.com/?tag=GOOGLE-SUPERANTISPYWARE/)
and use them.. after tell us if the problem is still there.
-
I ran them and there is still an icon that says new updates are available. and it's the same one.
-
Run the update from Internet Explorer instead of the taskbar and see if that sticks (Tools - Windows Update)

Thank you for your help, I think I am just stuck with it.
-
Thank you, but it came back. again. Guess I am stuck with it.

In Windows Update just check the box to not show the update again.
