Title: How can I arrange items by date in Vista
Post by: Gifman807 on September 17, 2009, 04:44:56 PM
In Windows XP I was able to arrange items in a folder by date.
But I can't seem to do this in Windows Vista.
Is there a way?
Please let me know.

Same as XP. Sort the column the way you want it, click on TOOLS - FOLDER OPTIONS - VIEW and make sure there is a tic mark in "remember each folder's view settings"

Thank you for your response but it doesn't answer my question.
My problem is not the folder placement. It the placement of the files and folders within a folder.
For example, I want to be able to view the contents of a folder in the order that they were placed in the folder. Right now, every file placed in the folder falls into its alphabetical placement.

Then go to the folder properties and select sort by date...
Alphabetical i believe is the default.

To further clarify patio's post, within Windows Explorer click on the folder you want to sort. Then in the right pane you have two choices to accomplish your goal:

1) Click on the "DATE" title at the top of the DATE column to sort by date or
2) Right-click within the right-pane and choose "sort by -- date"
