Title: Wake on LAN
Post by: Zylstra on September 18, 2009, 12:41:50 PM
I think I asked this once before, but I didn't quite get the right answer.

Is there a program that will enable Wake on LAN on any computer?
We would like to be able to start up many computers at once. (Example: The High School and Elementry labs) since there are quite a few computers, and its a pain to not have them ready to go.

Though WoL can be enabled manually, a program to do it automatically would be great. We can easily distribute any program, and then execute it (whether it is a script, or something that just needs to be run) using Symantec Ghost.

Most of our computers are Dells. Most of them have Wake on LAN disabled in the BIOS... I believe Windows can configure it differently.

Thank you for any suggestions.

I'm not sure that's quite what I am looking for. I need something that can wake up the computer after having been completely shut down.
The description I read of the program explains it can wake up from Hibernate, and Standby. Perhaps what I need isn't possible without individually configuring the BIOS on every computer.
Well, 10 computers down... 30 more to go in that room, 260 more total...
