Title: Outlook unable to send emails to MSN addresses
Post by: TriciaM on October 04, 2009, 07:50:44 PM
Hopefully I am not in the wrong place for this.....

I've been working with the virus forum. Upon doing some of the scans, etc, I think I may have done something to cause my Outlook Express to stop sending emails to MSN/Hotmail addresses.  The emails come back as being rejected........Is it because MSN messenger was deleted? Or is that just an application used for chatting? Thanks !

Deleting MSN Messenger should not cause all emails to be rejected, since that is only a chatting application. You may need to contact your ISP to see if they have made any recent changes and just explain the problem you are having. However, before you do that, you should create a new hotmail or MSN email address for yourself and try send send a test email to yourself from outlook express. If that does not work, try going to your ISP's website and send a message from their WebMail portal to that same test MSN/Hotmail account you set up. If that works, then most likely it is some port setting in outlook express that needs to be configured. Let me know if you have any more questions.

Thanks for the advice.  I just found that my email service is aware of the problem and is working on it.  Apparently, it is affecting everyone.  Thanks again.
