Title: speakers have no sound

I have no sound coming from my speakers. i recently moved my computer to another room and when i plugged everything back in the speakers wouldn't work. the computer says i have everything needed and that they are working. when you plug them in at first they make a noise but when you try and play a CD or something nothing comes out. they worked perfectly OK before. can anyone help please don't know what else i can do? :(

1) Make sure the speakers are plugged in to the correct port (it's easy to get it wrong)
2) Make sure volume is not muted (also quite common)
