Title: Taskbar in IE8
Post by: GrandpaJim on October 14, 2009, 07:08:32 AM
I have used the address window in the Taskbar (bottom of screen) for years in many browsers.  I recently installed IE8 on this machine & the address window is not there & is not one of the options in IE8.  Can anyone help ???

The address taskbar was removed with the arrival of SP3.

Alternatives can be found here.....

Windows Search 4.0 (http://www.microsoft.com/windows/products/winfamily/desktopsearch/default.mspx) has a toolbar which seems to work similarly to the address toolbar but look bulkier.

Thanks, everyone. I've downloaded the 3rd party software to provide the address window, but have not had a chance to try it yet.  I didn't know that SP3 disabled this.  I don't recall Microsoft saying anything about it, either.  Imagine that!
