Title: Can not access the chat room!.....
Post by: Rezinus on November 20, 2009, 05:38:20 PM
For some reason I am not able to chat in the chat room.
After the chat page is loaded, it always says "0 Users" and I can't see any chat text.

Does anyone know what could be causing this and what I can do to fix this?

Any help or advice is appreciated.

ps
I have also had trouble logging on to a different chat room that is not computer help related.
When that page loads, it just says "Access denied: Too many connections".. It has been telling me this for a week now and before I was not having any problems accessing the chat.

Try a third party utility. HydraIRC is a good one.

Thanks for the replies fellows.

Allan - What is HydraIRC and how do I use it?

patio- I thought about the possibility of that but I'm not sure if there is any way to know for sure. I never did or said anything that was boot worthy from what I can recall either.

It's a IRC client. You download, install it, and run it.

You can also use mIRC to access the chat.

If you're getting "Access denied: Too many connections", this is an indication that too many people are logging into the chat from the same hostname/IP address. Many IRC servers including Mibbit, the one Computer Hope uses only allows a few connections (4 in our case) to the IRC server. If you're at a school or work that shares the same IP address when outside your network it could be that other users are connected and preventing your from accessing the IRC network.

This is the link to HydraIRC in case you're still interested:

I used a program called Invisible Browser that changed my IP. When I accessed it and try to log in to the other chjat room I was trying to access (not CH chat), it allowed me to access.
Could this mean that my IP was banned from this particular chat room? Or could it be something else?

I have downloaded HydraIRC but I am confused on how to use it. I have also downloaded mIRC but am unsure how to use it as well.

Any help is greatly appreciated.

A nice tutorial for mIRC can be found here:

and click on the  "Get Started"  link.

It is step-by-step,   and even has pictures.

I hope this helps.
