Title: Server not found. please help. getting annoying

hello.
i am getting "server not found" on and off when i am opening web pages with mozilla and ie. i would have to hit the reload button a few times just to get the page to work. (its happening to most web pages ie. yahoo, facebook, ebay, etc.) i have att dsl and avast antivirus. is it the modem? mozilla? avast? please help.
