I'm on windows vista desktop. My son downloaded something from limewire. I tried to get on as admin to change a few things but my icon was gone only his user name is there. I tried to download or go to add/delete programs it says i don't have permission. please help me. I tried to download virus removal Huh? Embarrassed i have no permission. helppppp please.......

Sounds more like your son had admin rights and deleted your account. Smack him up side the noggin and have him log you back on

I'm on his account name and I tried to remove download make changes and it says i don't have permission log on admin account. his icon is the only one. i went to user account everything. wow!!! im soooo upset

Enable the Administrator Account
1.Open the command prompt with Administrative privileges by opening the Start Menu, and typing cmd in the search box, and then press Ctrl+Shift+Enter or click the Start orb, All Programs, Accessories, right-click Command Prompt and select Run as administrator.
2.Type the following in the command prompt and press Enter after:
"net user administrator /active:yes" without the quotes
3.Restart your computer and logon as Administrator.

i downloaded hijackthis clicked on install i got this error message c:\vlcj.exe is not valid win32 application

Boot to safemode w/networking to do updates and run scans...
If that does not work DLoad the neccessary tools on another machine and transfer them with a USB drive...

Try a system restore to before the date limeware was installed (if possible).

Okay. Try one of the following steps. If one doesn't work, try the other.
1.
Follow Step 6 here: http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/forums/topic34773.html - "Download DDS"
2.
Download random's system information tool (RSIT) by random/random from http://images.malwareremoval.com/random/RSIT.exe and save it to your desktop.
Double click on RSIT.exe to launch program.
Click Continue at the disclaimer screen.
Your firewall may alert you that RSIT is requesting Internet access. Please allow it.
Once it has finished, two logs will open: log.txt<-- this will be maximized and info.txt<-- this will be minimized.
Post log.txt in your answer.

Not saying to do this yet, but if all else fails you make want your files back. Just bookmark it for now and keep working with the pros here

When i try to install stopzilla i get message 1304 error writing to file: C:\windows\system32\ls3base5.dll and when i try to run RSIT it as for admin password or use current user which doesn't work

Re-install Vista...i'd do a clean install.
Assemble all your drivers beforehand.
Then invest in a good solid drive image app for backups for when things go sour...as they're bound to do again...

Seeing as you can't do anything else, try one last thing. If this doesn't work then I'm afraid a clean install is the only recovery.
Download ComboFix© by sUBs from one of the below links. Be sure top save it to the Desktop.

**Note: It is important that it is saved directly to your Desktop
Close any open Web browsers. (Firefox, Internet Explorer, etc) before starting ComboFix.
Double click combofix.exe & follow the prompts.
Vista users Right-Click on ComboFix.exe and select Run as administrator (you will receive a UAC prompt, please allow it)
When finished ComboFix will produce a log for you.
Post the ComboFix log in your next reply.
Important: Do not mouseclick ComboFix's window while it is running. That may cause it to stall.

i did some research and found i have fidbox2.dat in my files by searching hidden files here is the site and steps i followed

I see his only hope to recover what he can and reinstall the system. Set up his son as a user account and restrict what he can do on the internet. "NO DOWNLOADING"

i did that thru cmd but it denied me. i even tried to hack a new admin but denied. it says its a built in admin. i tried to disable it but no luck denied.

I doubt you followed all the info in Sage's link...running from a LiveCD does not bring up an Admin pword prompt...

Seems you have trouble following directions, maybe the builder could help you crack the password. I can't!!!. Read and follow the instruction on the link, then reinstall the OS. That's as far as I can go
