HP Pavillon a305w cd-writer won't open

My cd-writer & expansion bay both light up. The exp. bay opens, but the cd-writer won't. I have tried cleaning the inside of compt. & un-plugging & re-plugging the cd-writer.
Will I need a new/used one? Where can I optain one? Can I try something else to make it work? What would be the cost of a new or used item?

There is a small pinhole on the front of the drive...straighten out a paper clip and insert it into the hole to release the drive door....
