    Stack overlow at line: 104
    « on: March 07, 2010, 12:12:31 PM »
As per usual, I don't know if I'm posting this in the right place.  I tried doing a search of this website, but I didn't understand how to use the information I saw.

Recently, when I go online, I sometimes get a popup that reads:

    Message from the webpage:
    Stack overflow at line: 104

If you try to close the message it pops right up again and since you can't do anything while the message is up I have almost no choice but to reach for the power button.  (The other choice is to move the message around on the screen so it's right next to some other control button - X to close the window or something to open a new tab and mouse VERY QUICKLY from the x to close the message to the control to close the window or open a new one/ or tab .

The information on this website says to go to config.sys and change the amount of stack [memory?].  I typed config.sys in "Run" but I don't know how to find the place I need to go to check the amount of Stack I have or to change it.  I don't know what is being "stacked" or why I'm getting this message now.  Since I don't know what the stack is, I don't know if there's anything I can do to reduce my stack needs.

Mods, if my quetion is in the wrong place on the forums, please move it to the right place.

      Download and install;
      CCleaner
      http://www.filehippo.com/download_ccleaner

Clear your internet cookies and do a registry clean (just in case) with Ccelaner.
      Should be fine.
If it doesn't work try a new Internet browser.

        1.  Which website(s) generate the "stack overflow" message?  Is it always the same message "Stack overflow at line: 104"?

        2.  Which browser were you using?  Have you tried a different browser?

        3.  Which operating system version (and service pack level)?

        1) Ccleaner will not help.
        2) Does this happen on multiple web sites or only one?
        3) Does this happen with all browsers or only IE? If you haven't tried other browsers, do so now.
        4) When you get this problem solved you'll need to repair the damage you've been doing by using the power button to shut down. The way to do that is to boot to the Recovery Console and run chkdsk /r

The information you found on CH regarding "stack overflow" errors were for the DOS message; this sounds like a script error.

Many people have solved this issue by deleting their cookies, hence why I offered Ccleaner.

          I highly doubt that.

            This is one example.
But as it mentions there could be many reasons this stack error is happening.
            I offered one solution.

One example is not many. Regardless, it is not likely cookie deletion has anything to do with fixing a stack overflow. Nor will "cleaning" a registry help anything.

I hid out till objects stopped flying.  ( lol )  Actually I have to wait till this happens again and take notes.  I think both times that it happened recently I was doing a net search for the same thing, but I don't remember what.

This would lead me to believe it is a poorly constructed web page and probably nothing to do with your machine...
