This is true but you should appreciate it is a far cry from a Windows/Mac based platform.. it's not the easiest to learn... not recommended for people with NO experience.

Like any Linux, Mac OS X is a Unix-based operating system. From its sixth release Mac OS X v10.5 "Leopard" and onwards, every release of Mac OS X gained UNIX 03 certification while running on Intel processors.

On a regular PC you can use Mac OS but it is illeagl and you should not try it.

Yes there are quite a few although most are very uncommon.

Linux runs of 5% of computers. That makes it the 3rd most popular OS. About half of Linux users use Ubuntu. The other popular versions of Linux include: Debian, Linux Mint, Mandriva, Suse and Fedora to name a few.

Other operating system that are notable enough to mention include: BSD, BeOS and Solaris.
