What's the "Worth" of this 'New' Innovation within Gmail!???
    « on: April 16, 2010, 12:27:35 AM »
    HI Guys! ;)

Must have learnt about the 'New' Drag-n-Drop feature Gmail has introduced for attachments?

    If not, follow this link:::::

    http://gmailblog.blogspot.com/2010/04/drag-and-drop-attachments-onto-messages.html

Now the point is, what's the worth of this? How many of us split our Screen to two halves? In fact, isn't adjusting the 2 screens to occupy half portion & then drag-n-drop(ing) the attachment would become more tedious?! ::)

I believe, 99.9% of users work on a single active screen while other open apps. remain DORMANT in the Taskbar?!

    What's your take? :)

      Hi BC! ;)

How many 'Active' screens do you keep open at a single instance? 8)

& secondly,Why have you turn into a 'Scotty' & after me to shoo me away?   ;Beware, I have a BIG STICK in my hand!

      Shoo...Shoo....Away! ;D

I think the new drag & drop sounds great, thanks for bringing it to my attention :) it should be useful.
I don't tend to split my screen in two halves, that would indeed be tedious, but simply "restoring" the window, so it's not maximised, gives me enough free screen space to navigate to the file(s) I want and drag & drop to Gmail easily enough.
I agree not everyone will want to use this, but I can see it being a great innovation for many people, myself included.

Drag & Drop is the main way I open files. It's a shame my Zip Program (PowerArchiver) only supports it for adding files to an opened archive.

Actually, this became a habit through necessity- Visual Basic 6 only allows me to add a single file to a project at once, whereas I can drag and drop a set of files to add them to the project simultaneously.

Also, you don't need to have the windows open- you can drag over top of their taskbar icons, hover for a second or two, and then the window is restored automatically (as if you clicked it) and then you can continue to drag into the window. Just don't try to drop on the taskbar.

The main reason I use Drag and drop to open files (at least, files/projects that aren't in my recent lists) is usually because I have the folder window open already and using the file->Open screen would entail navigating there again.

Why have you turn into a 'Scotty' & after me to shoo me away?   ;Beware, I have a BIG STICK in my hand!

      riiiight...

I agree.  I just tried it and I think a good many gmail users may like this feature.
