Computer virus !!! Please help

Hello,

When I opened an IE window yesterday, I received this message "Application cannot be executed. The file xxx is infected" and this strange "Anti virus software" which I didn't download opened in a new tab. I can't access any web page on IE and the only thing the page would display is "Internet Explorer Warning - visiting this web site may harm your computer!"

I really would appreciate any help in fixing this issue ASAP. Thank you very much.
