Ok if you have windows 7 on a desktop computer then you need insert the newnetwork card the one that is faster.

unplug the back of the computer and take out the network card and replace it with a new one.

    mhelsby is confused.

kanaan - You can't make one send info and the other receive. But why would you want to do that? Having a faster network won't do anything at all to make your internet faster.

Your speed will be always be limited by your ISP.  Even if you could use one card to send and another to receive with the router, and that a HUGE if, the bottle neck will always be your ISP.

Okay there is increasing your network knowledge and there is completely stuffing it up. If you want to lengthen the range of your Wireless i can can help you with that, but if you're trying to make the router send to 1 card and receive from the other, that's not possible. The router will send and receive from one IP address, it will not send to one and receive from another, if this clarifies your proposed question. The school that you're at probably have a high transfer wireless network this does not include internet. as rthompson80819 pointed out, your speed is limited by your ISP (Internet Service Provider). The school are probably on a high speed plan with their ISP because they need that speed to contribute to all the teachers and students. Thus the "smart switch" which is a component on its own.

I hope i have helped you.

Oh boy... I was scared you were going to ask that question...

            Now to completely confuse you!

            I need 2 things...

1: The operating system that you are running (version if possible)
2: The name of the card that you are going to use to "lengthen" your range with.

            Many thanks

First you say if the OP needs information about how to lengthen the wireless range you can help with that - then you say you were afraid you'd ask and you don't know the answer. What are you up to?

kanaan - there is no way I know of to lengthen the range without additional hardware. And you cannot use two cards in one system at the same time. I'm not sure what Merlyn has in mind, but unless he is actually a magician you're going to be out of luck.
