Removing widgets from dashboard

I would like to know how to remove unwanted widgets from OS 10.6 dashboard?

    Sure!

    All you gotta do is go to your dashboard and click the little Plus (+) sign in the bottom right corner of the screen. X's will then appear on each widget. Click the X to remove the widget.

      Well i was sure you could just drag the icon to the desktop screen and it would *poof* into the desktop (not on the desktop).
