    USB Memory Sticks
    « on: June 02, 2010, 05:44:38 PM »
Can anyone tell me if I plug a USB Memory Stick into my computer, view files on it, then take it out, does it leave any trace of what I viewed or read on my hard drive, in my registry, anywhere?

Yes, under recent documents viewed, the shortcut will exist.  However once the memory stick is removed, the shortcut is a shortcut to nowhere.

Thanx Commando....I have another question, if I May....If I wipe the free space on my hard drive....will it completely delete all old files and recently visited web sites?

Also, If I make a backup disk, and then reformat my harddrive, will it be as if starting from scratch, with a new computer?

No, "wiping free space" won't delete old files or temp internet files. This can be done either through Windows or your browser's options, although neither method gets everything. A program like CCleaner is a little more effective, but don't use it to clean your registry.
