    Computers won't go standby
    « on: June 20, 2010, 03:45:38 AM »

What piece of hardware/software detects closing the laptop and putting it on standby?
Because now I have a problem, ever since I installed Kaspersky, when I close the laptop, it won't go standby anymore.
I think it might have something to do with services, or is my hardware busted?
Actually, Kaspersky won't even let my PC go standby when the standby key is hit.
    Same goes for the laptop.
    Something is messy...

    Help.

I think I'd try uinstalling Kaspersky on at least one of the computers and seeing whether that restores standby mode.

I read on the internet that standby won't work if certain services are still running (such as the all nasty kaspersky deep rooted service).
Is there another way than uninstalling Kaspersky?

I would like to know what is really going on rather than just try and fetch for something.

You might try some troubleshooting by using msconfig.  See http://support.microsoft.com/kb/310560 for info on using msconfig.
