You don't need a driver for a display to work.

The system needs to be OFF when you plug in the display. Then power on the display first, then the computer.

By the way, how do you break pins on a display connector?

i had it in the car and i must have got it caught in the car door or something??its an old monitor with the display lead attached so couldnt replace it.

not trying to look stupid or anything but there is definitely no way i would need a driver for the monitor?

        thanks for your help

Some displays do have drivers, but they ALL work just fine without one. Otherwise, how could you install the driver?

I have now tried 3 different monitors with the computer but not one of them work.starting to think it must be the machine itself.it turns on no problem but the monitor just not picking up any signal

Sounds like you may need to replace the video card.

Price rages depending on what you want - just like anything else. You'll find the best prices on the web. Open device manager and let us know what your current display adapter is.

Okay. Open the computer and tell look at the card to which the display is currently connected (first disconnect the system from power).
