(Always) Show Hidden Files and Folders
    « on: July 04, 2010, 09:50:25 AM »
Hi, I have this problem: whenever I set Folder Options- View- Hidden Files and Folders to (Do not show hidden files and folders) it always reverses back to (Show... ), and hidden stuff appear. I know it's not the best way ever to hide info, but I suspect a malware. Attached is my PC's Hijackthis log. What's the problem?
    Thanks

Why do you suspect malware - do you have other problems? When you make the choice do you click on Apply To All Folders? And are you logged on as admin?

Thanks Alan, you mean as the (Apply... ) as in the highlighted part in the attached image? I never used it before, and besides, it didn't work

I mean the "Apply To All Folders" button at the top of that screen shot.

You never used it before and besides it didn't work? I'm sorry - I don't understand that. And again, are you logged in as admin and why do you suspect malware?

That's fine - you speak more languages than I do. Please answer my other questions.

oops, sorry, of course I'm logged in as admin. I suspect a malware certainly because normally when you do not show hidden files and folders, hidden files and folders just do not show. I now I'm over protecting my machine and that's because I've just recovered from a serious disaster and determined never to happen again to it.
