    Vista slow after switching users
    « on: July 15, 2010, 10:48:03 PM »
Hi, every time someone uses their account on my vista for a long time(several hours), when i switch users to go into my account, the computer slows down. It takes about 30 seconds to switch users, and 10-15 seconds to login, while if nobody has been using the pc it takes about 5.(by "not using" i meant it just stayed on the pick user screen) This happens mostly when a user leaves the computer without getting out of their account, and after some time the computer locks the user account automatically, and after that it's slow for me. The slowness comntinues for some time, like 2-3 minutes, but can be so slow that it takes 20 secs to start IE. I have scanned for viruses, defragged, and used disk cleanup. Any tips to make it faster? Thanks.

OK first off if someone leaves an account they should log out of it, not lock it as that means all there processes are still running.
It's always worth a restart if someone has been using the computer for 'hours' so you can clear the cache before starting a new session. Remember a lot of your programmes are shared hence they get slower the more info you give them.

I would say 'personally' restart after every 'user' change.

    I may be wrong..

Well unfortunately your stuck then. Were here to give you reasons why things happen and how to correct them. Certainly not here to teach people negotiation skills.
