Windows ME Help file won't open?

Can anyone help me wiith this problem? When I try to open help file from start menu or try to open system info files. I get this error message:unable to open help file error 2147143677 help control center has failed. I have tryed solutions from btinternet.com but with no luck. Any solutions to this problem would be appreciated.     THANK YOU, Mark

Windows ME Help & Support uses Internet Explorer so it is most probably a problem with IE. Have you changed anything to do with IE lately?

Repairing IE (control panel>add/remove programs highlight Internet Explorer x.x and then click remove. In the window that opens click repair) may help.

Run a virus scan..in safe mode >>f8 held down on boot up....>>>what results do you get by typing msinfo32 in the run box.....the number given......is not you phone number??is it.
