    Virus Attacked XP
    « on: August 10, 2010, 08:25:39 AM »
A virus attacked my computer and completely overtook it.  I can not get into safe mode because the arrow keys won't work after I press F8 and then it just goes into windows.  I tried taking out the infected drive and attempted to install XP on the other drive (it has 2 drives), but that would not work either.  I swapped drives (as I want the bigger drive to be the main drive), but now it won't recognize by DVD player.  When I try to run anti-virus, it won't let me.  Another anti-virus claiming to be Windows pops up, runs a scan, and then wants money.  Also a porn site pops up.

Computer will not let me download anything or open anything.  I wish to just completely reformat it, but it won't let me do that either.

Sure you can. Just boot to the OS disc and when the installation begins you'll be given the option to format before installing. Just make sure the optical drive is the first item in the bios boot order.
