    Windows XP not starting
    « on: August 17, 2010, 06:43:07 AM »
    Hello,

I had a problem in my laptop which said "Application cannot be executed. The file *** is infected."I did a quick search in the computer hope forums and found the following
    "http://www.computerhope.com/forum/index.php/topic,95177.0.html"
My laptop starting working as normal.
Y'day again I had the same message "Application cannot be executed. The file *** is infected."I followed the sameprocedure as before.
When I ran SUPERAntiSpyware ,it asked me to reboot my computer.I rebooted my computer and now it does not go to the Windows main Screen .
It shows the Windows XP logo at the very beginning when you start your computer ,but then again it does not log in to the Windows main screen(desktop).

When I restart my computer I have two options:

    1.Microsoft Windows Recovery Console
    2.Microsoft Windows XP Professional

It selects the Microsoft Windows XP and some screen flashes with some error message(that is my guess),I am not able to read the message ,and then again goes back with the procedure of restarting the computer.Again I see the 2 options.

    1.Microsoft Windows Recovery Console
    2.Microsoft Windows XP Professional
It selects the second option.and the procedure it goes thru is the same.It is a never ending cycle.

    Please help me regarding this.

Please let me know if any other details are required to resolve this issue.

    Thank you,
    Priya

      Hi Alan,
I am not able to login to my computer i.e not able to go to the start up screen, so I am not able to find what service pack is installed and all the other procedures which have been mentioned can only be done if I am able to go to main window. This is an ongoing process.
I have a media file which would show you the entire process , I am talking about .I am not able to upload the file as it is more than 700 KB.Is there any way , I can send it to you.

      Thank you,
      Priya
