lost data after system recovery
« on: September 01, 2010, 09:22:29 AM »
hello,

I did a system reset or recovery with Vista ( I have a compaq 610). I have 2 drives, C and D.

Without thinking that it would be new formatted etc , I did not make a back-up of my pictures and docs ( I know ....)

howver I made a back up a couple of weeks ago thru the HP software on D.

If I now look at d it say 2gb of 10 free. Which means that their should be data on....  But when I click on it I see nothing.

would anyone know how I can see that data and what is on the D drive?

thanks
chris

The D: drive probably doesn't contain any backups. It contains a recovery partition.

The "backup" procedure you ran through, assuming you didn't burn any discs during the process, likely just backed up your data somewhere on the C: drive, not onto D: (since there would not be room).

I was trying to dereference Null Pointers before it was cool.
