Excel opens when touching "touch sensitive" "buttons" on laptop???

This topic could fit in both hardware and software, so I hope I am not breaking any forum rules by posting this here.

Has anyone else EVER heard of this happening?  I have an HP dv7-1267cl laptop running Vista Home Premium 64bit.  It has these "touch sensitive" buttons next to the power button for turning on "MediaSmart" (which will not turn on, not that I want it to anyway), muting or un-muting the speakers, a volume slider, rewind, play/pause, forward, and stop, and one to turn on and off my wireless wi-fi.  If I touch ANY of them, with the exception of the wireless button, Microsoft Excel opens up and goes to a blank spreadsheet.  If I slide my finger along the volume control it opens SEVERAL windows of Excel as well as changing the volume.  I have Office 2007.

Any ideas?  Thank you in advance.
