    Belkin Router help
    « on: September 14, 2010, 12:31:21 PM »
Having problems my wireless G+ MIMO router. Comcast came and installed my internet and my laptop can't get online? It shows that there is an internet connection but when I try it says there's not a connection? I disconnected my router from my old house and brought it to the new house just a couples hours before Comcast transferred my service, so I don't think anything is wrong with the router just maybe things are hooked up wrong or something? If I disconnect the router and just use the Comcast modem on my PC, I can get online? I use internet explorer, the same as the old house. So far I have tried disconnecting, resetting, and turning off the router. Any ideas of what may be wrong? Thank you

When the wireless router was working at the previous home, was it a secure wireless network?  (WEP or WPA?)  Have you rebooted the modem as well as the router?

        Open Command Prompt
        type, ipconfig /all
hit Enter, copy & past results here.
        Then,
See if it works hard wired to the router.  If that doesn't work try hard wired directly to the modem; you'll have to power cycle the modem before attaching the laptop and rebooting it.

Could you tell me in "computer for dummies" language? Ha Ha Ha How do I open command prompt? How do I hardwire the modem and/or router to check? Thanks  ;D
