Windows Update stops, error code 937001 comes up
    « on: September 21, 2010, 02:57:18 AM »
I'm using the automatic Windows update for my Windows vista. When the system installs update KB947821, it creates the back up point, starts to install, but after a short while it stops and shows the error code 937001. Hence I can't install this update, which I guess is important. I tried to free up over 2GB of space on the disk and tried on different days, but the probelm keeps reoccurring. I'm the only user of this computer, connecting via broadband to the internet.

Operating system: Windows Vista SP2 (I don't have a real Windows installation CD)
Computer: Toshiba Satellite A300 with 3GB RAM
Hard drive: I've got 116GB on my C drive (where Windows is installed) out of which 3,76GB are free
Graphic card: ATI Mobility Radeon HD 3470
Sound card: Realtek High Definition Audio
    Antivirus: McAfee Total Protection

    Thank you

    My thoughts exactly...

However if that free space really means 3.7G free you have discovered your problem.
Windows needs approx 15% free space on any drive.

I have deleted some files so now 18GB out of 116GB are available (which is more than 15%) and the problem still keeps occurring.

Then you have a serious problem. I have Vista and have never had this even when I have had less than 1gb free.

http://support.microsoft.com/kb/947821  is the update and it would seem to be for software.
Can I ask where did you obtain your windows from?

Have you got any firewall running in the background? Norton? Mcafee?

        Is your windows genuine?

Have you got any service packs installed?

Incomplete removal of Norton is known to cause this error.
