just looked, i do have something called a quick restore cd.....

That will get you back to as-new condition with a fresh XP install... if the network stuff works, my advice is, breathe a sigh of relief and forget about Windows 7 on that computer. If it doesn't, then you have a problem.

shoot, i bought the computer with the idea of putting win 7 on it...i need to use windows journal with the touchscreen.....why wouldnt it work with 7 ?
what if i get back to normal with xp, then try win 7 in the correct order this time...or even buying a new win 7 upgrade disk?

you can try the Windows 7 Upgrade advisor tool by Microsoft to see if you can get win 7 on your computer.

you might just check out this link. There is instructions (with screenshots to help you) there to get XP onto your usb stick so you can install XP off of it.

          Good luck

"Clicking usb_prep8.cmd opens up the black and white command screen you see above. Follow the directions on-screen by clicking any button and you will be greeted with another window, PeToUSB. If you have your flash drive plugged in, the program should detect it and list it under the destination drive."

            that does not happen

i have been at this for hours......this is ridiculous.....i have done the suggestion of trying to re install xp via the instructions and got the problems i listed a few posts ago...also tried wintoflash version and wont work either.....did both several times.....i feel the first method might work but it seems like there is a step missing, as i listed earlier............help................ ...................................
