The interest pretty much consumes my spare time and my current study is the ssd before I install it.
I have a nice Antec case but using a smaller footprint and it suits my needs so far.

Specs:
ASUS M4A89GTD PRO / PHENOM II B55 @ 3.9Ghz / XGP 4GB DDR3 1600
60SSD [email protected] / ASUS MULTI OPTICAL / RADEON HD 4290
OCZ MODX PRO 500W 80+ / WINDOWS 7 ULTIMATE X64 / NZXT DUET
_______________________ASUS 23" HDMI________________________
currently running as 555 x2 @ 3.5ghz

Looks sharp.
Are you planning on installing the operating system on the SSD and using the 500 gig drive for storage?

Thanks, it's no masterpiece or anything but im kinda proud of it. loll
and yes, and a few prog i want to start when windows does. the rest of the infrequent can go to the 500 as well as some folders from 7.
its been work finding out what and how to move things from c. for instance i use outlook and havnt even cracked the book to see if there's anything there that shouldn't be on c (ssd).
im just not confident enough yet to make sure i get lasting perf. from it
looks kinda naked without a video card. i dont really have a need for one at the moment.

King D
IMO that's a sound approach for using C: and D: and Outlook is a perfect example.  Leave the Program on C: but you can store the email on another drive.  I haven't used Outlook in a while but there is a settings option to store email elsewhere, try tools or options in Outlook.

 :D Hey GW
I briefly looked around outlook and found what you spoke of.
And the email/storage/saved docs/etc in MS Office apps can be moved.
Thanks for the heads up. Looks like I'll be ready this w/e to move everything over.
Yesterday I found a local resident that has 3 left out of 30 (work server upgrade)
 - used 16gb SLC drives for cheap. I thinkI'll get all 3 and incorporate at least 1 into the setup.
 ;D

With my first build I was surprised that it booted the second time. I thought for sure I had messed something up while installing the CPU.

I say "second" because the first time I tried to power it on, nothing happened. Of course, seeing the 8GB of unopened RAM packages gave me a good clue as to what I forgot!  ;D

I was trying to dereference Null Pointers before it was cool.

Yes I do  8) and thank you. The only thing that bothers me is that ps taking up room for longer gpu's. If I wanted even a 5770 I think I'd have to change the ps or case. Probly wouldn't need one, but just not having the option, well,, you know how it is,,,,,,,

lmbo  :D - I beat ya!  ;) Fired right up!  ;D Had the 440 in there, then changed to the 89gdt and combo'd a 555 for cheap. Both unlocked and prime95'd for 15+ hrs w/no errors. Is that good? Iv'e had it to 3.9G's on x4 for a while on that cooler. Wasn't there long cuz I was just getting my feet wet. I like it beacuse it's like 2 in one. I can open it up if need be.
Finally getting around to my boot drive tomorrow. Gonna use a smaller ssd for additional space, and it's brother for a dumping ground. (no ramdisc  :-X)
