    « on: May 02, 2011, 05:11:39 PM »
Recent my fathers drive in his audio pc died.  He ordered a replacement after getting what he could off the old old.  We attempt to install 2K, only for it to start haveing issues with the install.  Dell Dimension 4100, there are no light error codes.

Just curious as to if you replaced the drive with same type such as IDE with IDE or if you upgraded this older system to now take a SATA drive to where you might need a SATA controller driver for Windows 2000 Pro?

If you kept the same IDE drive type, is the jumper installed correctly for MASTER (MA), SLAVE (SL), or CABLE SELECT (CS) ? Look at the old drive and compare jumper location to make sure it matches the new drive.

I am guessing you are able to boot off the Windows 2000 Pro CD and then it comes to a point to where it says hard drive not detected?

No, we got an IDE to go in the unit.  After it installs the files during the load bar part of it, is when it starts to have trouble.  We tried a differnt cd drive, useing the harddrive in another machine an still have this occuring.
