Iomega zip drive causing desktop to crash
« on: June 30, 2004, 11:44:46 PM »
Hi

I have an Iomega zip 250 usb powered drive. IAfter loading the Iomegaware software, switching my pc off and plugging in my drive and switching on the pc again (as per instructions), the drive is detected and the window in the installation wizard list the drive is displayed.

However, the desktop crashes at this point and the only way to unfreeze it, is by removing the USB cable from the zip drive. The desktop then unfreezes.

System spec:  20GB Hard disk
Windows 98 SE OS
Memory
128 Ram
1ghz celeron processor

I have looked in the Device Manager in the System Properties and an Iomega Parallel Port Interface is listed under SCSI controllers (except that it's supposed to be USB driven!). Also in the System Information Menu under Components and Storage an Iomega Parallel Port Interface -  SCSIAdapter is also listed as having a problem.

I have tried reinstalling the drivers but no good.

Is there a hardware conflict?

Thanks for your help in anticipation

You should update your mainboard its USB drivers. Head to your manufacturers website and see what patches are avaible.
