      System in use:-
      System: Microsoft Windows XP
                    Professional
                     Version 2002
                    Service Pack 3

Tried to update software like Advanced SystemCare V3 to V4 or Adobe flash, the files can be downloaded but not able to save.  Even new file from Oodoo can't be saved.
      Appreciate your help.

If they can be downloaded they can be saved. That is what "downloaded" means, so what do you mean "can't be saved"? State what browser you are using. Describe how you attempt to save them and what happens. Describe any messages that you see.

      Explain what "Oodoo" is...

        To Salmon Trout:
        Browser used - Firefox
At download.com, after clicking on download button, a box appeared with the heading-Opening asc.setup.exe.  Inside box, clicked save file - desktop box appeared - clicked save. No message appeared. Went back to desktop, nothing there.  Used search - nothing turns up in search result.

        To Patio:
OoVoo is a software similar to Skype. Sorry, I should have stated from www.oovoo.com

Both apps/updates you are trying should be from the manuf site...download.com isn't always the best choice...
PS...theres a good chance you may be infected...what protection apps do you have ? ?

They are not being save to the desktop, they are saved to your Download folder.  You can configure FF to save to any location, you determine wher that is.

            Computer_Commando,
Tried again as suggested.  Nothing saved in download folder or any other folder used. Search shows negative result.

What happens when you look in Firefox options? Have you tried:

Seeing what the options are at present?

Playing around with the various settings on the "General" tab?

Seeing what happens when you alter some of them, for example setting or changing the "Save files to" folder, or setting "Always ask where to save files"?

            Checking "Show the Downloads window"?

Doing some or all of these things and seeing if anything changes might help to shed some light.

Also, when did you do a complete virus and browser hijacker scan? Have you tried starting Firefox in safe mode?

Can you download OK in Internet Explorer?
