    mouse cross pointer

    I have Windows 98 and Excel 2000 on another PC. On occasions the mouse pointer becomes a cross for a short period and than changes to the normal arrow. Today it is stuck there. Is there anything I can do other than reboot and lose the Excel edit I was doing?

      I gather the cross appears normally for only a short while and changes to an arrow on clicking the mouse. The failure to change on the occasion I mentioned appears to be a freeze. I rebooted and redid the Excel edits. There appears to be no alternative.
