There may be a setting in your display driver control panel

I don't believe this can be done.  Besides, the idea is absurd.  It would render the screen unreadable.  Are you trying to play a trick on somebody or what?

Certain projection set ups require this kind of arrangement.

Is the computer involved here a laptop?  If so, this reference might help: http://www.ehow.com/how_5993072_do-image-laptop-monitor-display_.html

No that's not what I meant. Because the way my room is set up is that my piano is on one end of the room and my computer and monitor (TV) is at the opposite end. I have a mirror above my piano for which I can see the monitor but since my mirror makes all text on the computer unreadable it kind of screws me over. So I'm wondering if there's a way to configure my monitor so I can read text/music notes from my mirror.

I don't believe this can be done.  Besides, the idea is absurd.  It would render the screen unreadable.  Are you trying to play a trick on somebody or what?
It's not absurd, just thinking outside the box.
The only computer I have is a desktop, nice try though.

      http://khaid.drue.us/mirror/pvcmirror.zip

Contains: pvcmirror.exe - file date is 2003 but I ran it on Window 7 64 bit and it transformed the display (Aero Glass, 1920 x 1080, Nvidia Geforce 8200 onboard) into a mirror image. There is no documentation that I can see on the website http://journal.pcvsconsole.com. Maybe you can play with it and make it do what you want. The display seems to jump back to normal when you move the mouse to certain areas like the taskbar. Otherwise I think killing it in Task Manager will work. It seemed to leave a few artifacts on the taskbar; I think it might work better in Vista or XP, or with different display hardware or with Aero disabled. Might be worth a try. Scanned with Microsoft Security Essentials.

Now that you've explained the situation, I agree it's not absurd.  If you can't find a way to make your computer display a reversed image that then looks normal on the mirror, then perhaps a two mirror system could be devised whereby the first mirror would show a reversed image (unreadable due to being reversed) but the image on the second mirror would appear normal because it reversed the reversed image.  ;D

Otherwise, I think you may have to consider an second monitor or some projection system to accomplish what you want.

I tried it. It doesn't work for videos. It only works for things that don't move like text and pictures. GIFs and movies don't work.

why cant you just go into control panel
type display into the search box
you will see change screen orientation
click that choose a flipped orientation and click OK

The word "flipped" is a US English colloquialism that has a number of meanings. Therfore much confusion in this thread. He wants a mirror image, control panel settings don't include that. They do rotation.

Thank!  Trying to solve this same problem for a different reason - wanting to watch exercise/dance videos and powerpoints mirrored so that I can copy the moves directly as if in a mirror.  I'll try this for powerpoints etc - For videos, you can use VLC media player which has an option to play in mirrored format and is a great little player with no fat anyway.  You have to set the mirrored option before beginning to play, I think.

That just rotates it 180 degrees so it's upside down. That's a function for projectors that are mounted upside down on a ceiling.

What he wants to do is have the image reverse horizontally so it looks backward when you look at the screen, but forward when looking in a mirror.

Fun fact: This is a common practice on older and larger upright arcade arcade cabinets. An out-of-sight TV screen with a reverse image is facing upward reflecting off of a mirror where the player sees it from. This gives the cabinet a lower center of gravity so the machine can't be tipped over as easily. It also adds more depth to the player view.

The download link for the software in not working.  I was wondering if anyone has this file (pvcmirror.exe) to share.  I know this thread is a little bit outdated, if the sharing of this utility is not possible are there any software with similar function that is currently available for download.

Hoping for a quick response. Thanks.

Can I get a copy as well? I have been looking for a way to invert the screen for digital signage. I have a hair salon I want to install the screen behind the people getting hair cuts so they can read the screen from looking in the mirror.

If using an old CRT monitor, an analog monitor, a technician and swap two fly-back wires s so that the scan reversed.

                  EDIT: Google TV mirror image
There are LCD monitors for people who want to watch TV in the bath tub.
The mirror option lets you see the TV in the bath room mirror.

The reason you would want to mirror your computer monitor is to recreate a mirror effect much like an arcade gaming cabinet, or in my case, to use your laptop monitor display screen as a teleprompter. This program will mirror, Not flip your computers laptop monitor display screen. HMU on FB or instagram.  ;D https://www.realtimesoft.com/ultramon/download.asp

No, it does not do what it says.  It means replicate rather than mirror.
The Optical mirror action can be done in hardware on analog monitors. You just reverse the vertical and horizontal sweep.
