Microsoft Excel Error
« on: March 28, 2012, 12:45:55 PM »
Hi,

Everytime I launch he Microsoft Excel (part of the office 2007 Home and Student version), I see the following error:

and then office automatically starts doing its configuration thing...

This error message only popped up yesterday, have been using excel 2007 without any problems for as long as I can remember otherwise.

The installer I have is the one I downloaded off of the official digitalriver links. Googling the error seems to tell me to either reinstall the suite, which I've attempted already and the problem doesn't go away or to go play with the registry to fix it, but I'm not touching the registry unless I know exactly what to do.

Thanks for any help on this problem, glad to be back again.

UPDATE: I find somebody's solution at the following link:

http://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/office/forum/office_2007-office_install/stdole32tlb-file-missing/ba3e940d-d628-4334-ac89-5e8ac9878093

Should I attempt it, 'cuz I see the solution seems to be for windows 7, BUT I am using a vista?

The solution should do the trick even though it's for Vista...

Still didn't work, I tried the suggestion on this site:

Now, office 2007 works like it did before without that error message.  :)
