erasing search memory

I was wondering if there was anyway to remove or delete the history on the quick find system for the search engines.
You know were you right in a letter and a scroll list pops showig you a list of everything you've looked for starting with that letter.

      Just go into your browser options and disable the auto complete function.
      If you don't stand for something, you'll fall for anything.
