Well would we be able to make a couple of alterations to the list you gave me previously in order to fill out a solid $3000?. Its not that i want to spend money willy nilly, im just very curious as too how putting in an extra $500 now could result in a worthwhile percentile increase in performance over the next couple of years (aiming to not need an upgrade for a while i guess). I'm thinking about maybe better graphics card and/or Ram (perhaps motherboard)? I would love to finally be able to play games on the Ultra-High settings or as close to as possible.
You can't really go any higher on the RAM, other than increasing the speed but that doesn't measurably improve performance.
I'd stick another GTX 680 in there for SLI, that fits in nicely with an extra $500 onto that build and is probably the only thing you could see a real difference by doing.
